Shahin Keyvandarian

Articling Candidate for the Bar September 2026

Education:

Shahin joined White & Company Family Law in the summer of 2025 in seeking articles to be called to the British Columbia bar. Shahin completed his initial legal education in Iran and practiced for several years there as a fully licensed lawyer. He continued his academic journey in the UK, earning an LL.M. in Banking and Finance Law from the University of Bristol in 2022. In 2024, he obtained a Master of Laws in Common Law from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia. Following his studies at UBC, he gained practical legal experience through an internship with the BC Investment Management Corporation (BCI).

Legal Perspective:

Shahin is a strong advocate for the concept of access to justice and believes that no one should be deprived of legal services, regardless of gender identity, race, age, culture, or income. This commitment led him to join the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program (LSLAP), volunteer with the Restorative Justice Association of BC through Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC), and participate in a legal research project focused on domestic violence during his time at Allard Law. He believes legal practice should serve as a bridge between the principles of justice and the realities families face, as the family is the most fundamental place where those principles are first learned and lived.

Heart:

Growing up with a strong and resilient single mother, whom he proudly calls the hero of his life, Shahin gained a deep appreciation for the cultural, financial, and systemic barriers faced by women. Later in life, despite having a stable life and a successful career, he and his wife chose to relocate from Iran to Canada, where women’s rights are valued and women are empowered to thrive with dignity and claim their rightful place in society. These are the core values he has consistently stood for throughout his professional life. Shahin sees his wife as a steady source of support and inspiration, and believes it was her quiet determination and faith in the power of change that motivated them to rebuild their lives from the ground up.

Location:

Shahin now calls the beautiful Okanagan home and takes every opportunity to connect with nature. He brings strong legal research skills, a diverse legal background, and a client-focused approach to our team."
